Healthy Home Economist

Healthy Home Economist

The Healthy Home Market (formerly known as the Healthy Home Economist) is the best place in Davidson to get healthy, organic, local, and home-made food.  The pre-made food in the deli is constantly changing and evlovling and the chefs in the back are constantly coming up with new ideas.  For some reason, it has a reputation of being expensive but it's not really more expensive than the Teeter down the road, and you get much more wholesome and fresh food for your money.  They have wraps and sandwiches and quesadillas and lasagnas and vegan foods and desserts and pastas and bbq all at very reasonably priced selections.  I go almost every other day and can get lunch and dinner together for under $10.  The sandwiches and wraps are from 3.99 - 5.99 and they now have a smoothie bar!  They often have vendors in giving samples and the produce section offers plenty of local varieties...i.e. cantolope and blueberries and peaches have all come in recently from local sources.  The eggs are from a local farmer and they feature several sources of local chicken and pork and grass fed beef.  The bulk food section of spices can also be a great deal.  I can't say enough about the friendly faces there and the staff's willingness to go above and beyond to help you find what you need.
