Whole Foods is a regional grocery chain that focuses on thinks like organic, sustainable products and healthier foods. The seafood, meat, and produce sections blow away anything you’d find in a typical grocery store and I got hungry just looking at all the dead fish, including Opah.After filling a couple bags with Hatch Chiles I wandered over to check out the beer selection. I found a great selection of craft beers, about half in cooler racks and half in open air shelving. As I looked through the choices in the cooler I noticed a small sign titled “Secret Stash”. Ah ha! I tracked down the girl working the beer and wine department and she quickly disappeared only to quickly return with 2 bottles each of Pliny and Enjoy By as I had requested. I’ll also mention that the price for both was as low as I have found them anywhere in town, $4.69 for the Pliny and $5.99 for the Enjoy By. A perfect find and I was able to enjoy a fresh Pliny while roasting the Hatch Chiles that evening.As San Diego’s colorful and urban epicenter, Hillcrest is the place to eat, shop, play and stay.
